People were standing at the back of the 1000-seat capacity Metropolitan Cathedral of Sts. Volodymyr and Olha in Winnipeg on Easter Sunday, May 5, 2013. Only three parishes of the 15 Ukrainian Catholic parishes of the Winnipeg city deanery celebrate Easter according to the Julian Calendar. The Cathedral is one of them. STATE DEPUTY MERLYN ONYSCHUK HOSTS EXCELLENT CONVENTION

The 2013 annual Manitoba State Convention of the Knights of Columbus is being held at the Victoria Inn Hotel and Convention Centre ( winnipeg.vicinn.com ) in Winnipeg, 3-5 May 2013.

GREATLY LOVED REDEMPTORIST MISSIONARY FR. JOSEPH DENISCHUK DIES

92-year old Redemptorist Father Joseph Denischuk, C.Ss.R. died at his order’s monastery in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He is well known by the Ukrainian Catholic community in both Canada and the United States where he successfully organized parishes and spear-headed church-building projects such as St. Joseph’s Parish in Winnipeg and the Ukrainian National Shrine in Washington, D.C. NEWBORN BABE RECEIVES SACRAMENTS OF INITIATION

Once again, Holy Eucharist Parish was blessed with the joyful event of a little child entering the “Mysteries” of Baptism and Chrismation (Confirmation).

Sweet little Maylee Ann-Marie was Baptized “in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit” in the presence of many relatives and friends – especially her delighted parents, Godparents and Grandparents. PASTORAL COUNCIL FORGES AHEAD FOR THE GOOD OF THE PARISH

On Thursday evening 25 April, chairperson Shirley Skochylas called the meeting to order and, as is customary, asked Parish Priest Fr. Michael to open with a prayer.
